“I cut my screen time hard and I got my evenings, my sleep, and my mind back.”
The feed was engineered to take your hours, and for a long time it won. You drew a hard bound around it and the rooms of your life filled back up. The bound did not make you miss out - it gave you back the things the scroll was quietly stealing.
Your Practice
- Name what came back when the screen went down: sleep, focus, presence.
- Keep the bound concrete - a number, a cutoff, a charging spot away from bed.
- Fill one reclaimed hour on purpose, so the feed can't reclaim it.
- Write what your evenings are for now.
The Architects
“Our life is frittered away by detail.”
— Henry David Thoreau, Walden, ch. II 'Where I Lived, and What I Lived For' (1854)
